FEMALE INFERTILITY TREATMENT- AN ANALYSIS

 Infertility is often disappointing and devastating for families. You go through a myriad of frustrating emotions when your dreams seem out of reach. Today, infertility is reported to affect about 1 in every 6 couples around the world and female infertility accounts for about one-third of these cases. The issue of female infertility is termed as the inability to successfully conceive and deliver a baby even after unprotected and repeated intercourse for about 12 months. When the cause of failure is detected as an irregularity in the female reproductive system, it is termed as female infertility.

Female infertility is known to be a result of ovulation issues, problems in the cervix or due to a disorder of reproductive organs such as the uterus and fallopian tubes. Age, lifestyle which includes diet, stress and so on and several environmental factors are some well known external contributors of infertility. A woman's fertility is known to decrease with age from an age of around 30 years.

Ovulation irregularities, which are one of the most common causes of infertility in a female, can be caused due to hormonal imbalance, thyroid gland issues, and obesity. Pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, infections, polyps, previous instances of tubal pregnancies are all issues that can be considered under reproductive organ abnormalities.

Diagnosis of Female Infertility

Diagnosis of female infertility primarily involves an analysis of history, clinical examination, and ultrasound. This is often followed up with a blood test and urine analysis to account the various necessary parameters. Other diagnostic procedures involve tests with the assistance of technology like laparoscopy and hysteroscopy which helps in ascertaining the various possibilities and causes of the condition.

 Managing Female Infertility

Today, most cases of female infertility can be overcome, either by correcting the irregularities that lead to the condition or with the help of various ART (Assisted reproductive techniques) that assist you to realise your dream.

The various ways of managing the infertility condition include hormone therapy which helps in taking care of the imbalances in the necessary hormones. Ovulation irregularities can be treated to some extent with the help of drugs to stimulate ovulation. Surgery is another option of treatment that is used to correct the disorders with the reproductive organs.

Blockages due to scar tissue formations, polyps and a severe case of endometriosis can be treated with the help of a surgery.
